Juicing Our Lives Away

Okay so I wanted to post about my latest obsession. JUICING!! I have only been doing it for a couple of weeks, but it has been awesome. I am hooked. I know I have only been doing it for a short time, but I have felt great! Being clear headed and full of energy all day makes my life even better. Most people say, “but does it fill you up?”. The answer is no it doesn't, however it serves its purpose by filling my body with nutrients and makes my body crave fruits and veggies.

I wanted to start juicing because one of my friends told me to watch “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”. It’s a documentary about a mans journey on a 60 day juice fast. His results are incredible. By the end of it the disease he had was gone, he lost a ton of weight, and he no longer had to take medications. Everyone should watch it on Netflix! I truly believe that God gave us food to eat straight out of the ground, and we don’t take advantage of it enough.

I am enjoying the benefits of juicing  so much already that I have decided to go on a fast. I am going to juice for three days starting Tuesday August 12th. I know three days might not be 60 like Joe from the documentary. But hey, I am setting a realistic goal for myself. I love to eat, so I thought three days might be a good place to start. I want you to join me. Lets juice for three days. Get all of those toxins out of our body and experience the results.  Maybe after three days we will want to keep going, or do a five day detox a few weeks after.

Juicing takes time and lots of cleaning up, but I think its worth it! Im not so good at following directions so I just throw stuff in there. Honestly everything has turned out great for me! Here is a picture of my favorite recipe so far.

4 carrots, 1 green apple, 4 celery sticks, pinch of ginger, half a lemon, 1 beet, handful of spinach, half a cucumber, and 1 sliver of garlic. (is that called a clove). This was for two people. You might want to only use half of everything for one person.

This is my Juicer! The Breville Juice Fountain BJE200XL. It was featured in the documentary and only cost $100.00

My other favorite recipes so far that I don't have pictures of are:

Half a pineapple, 1 apple, 2 peaches (or pears). SO YUMMY FOR BREAKFAST.

1/2 lemon, 1 green apple, 2 carrots, and a little bit of fresh ginger

4 carrots, 1 mango, 1 pear, and 1 apple

The resources below will help you learn about juicing! Also, you can explore Pinterst for recipe ideas and detoxes. The first website will explain the juice fast that I will start on the 12th.

Please comment if you plan to join the fast or have any tips or recipes.

I think its good to set goals before doing something like this, here are mine:
1) To see what its like not to eat for 3 days
2) Get all toxins out of my body
3) Set a standard of eating(or drinking) clean

I will keep everyone posted on my grocery list and other things I will be trying while detoxing.

August Squat Challenge!!

I woke up today and felt inspired by the squat challenge I saw on the news! I love doing squats and usually do them every day in my workouts. If you have never checked out fitsugar.com you should. It has tons of great ten minute workouts, recipes, and more.
I found a squat challenge on their website that looks great. Starting tomorrow, August 1, I am going to follow the plan and incorporate it into my daily workouts for a 30 days. Hope some people take the challenge with me, and see our legs look rockin in a month. I will comment on this post to fill ya’ll in on my progress and results! Below is the website that will tell you exactly what to do.

Toxic to Clean

I have been on this health journey. I got a little chubby after my drugs and alcohol days, and then eating Sysco for three months while working at a camp only made it worse. I did not feel good about myself at all. I was 25 pounds over my normal weight. I started trying to eating healthy. I didn't really know what I was doing.  I grew up eating whatever I wanted. My metabolism really messed up after doing drugs and I could tell my body was kinda freakin out.
I began to make slow changes in my diet. I cut out all breads, cereals, milk, and other types of foods that just dont do anything for the body. I always thought dairy and bread were good for me..I WAS WRONG. Since I have made simple changes to my diet I feel so much better. On my best days of eating clean I dont experience constipation, bloating, or tiredness. So many foods are processed and packed with sugar. Once I cut those out of my diet I began to see a real change. Honestly, I just set standards for myself. Starting with:
I stay away from all bread
I wont order sandwiches at restaurants
Buy almond milk instead of milk
Purchase all organic
Buy organic peanut butter or almond butter(no added sugars)
Always pack healthy snacks
Only shop in the produce section
Instead of buying regular noodles try brown rice organic noodles
Stay away from gluten
These changes helped me drop the pounds and most importantly have made my body feel so much better!
It took me like a year to figure out what my body reacted good with and what it didn’t. I don’t think I know for sure what works perfect, but the journey is fun. Testing different things to see what your likes and doesn't like is more fun than loosing weight. Its about being healthy and loving yourself.
DON’T GET ME WRONG  I still eat junk food every so often. Its just not part of my daily diet and I would never buy it. I give into wheat thins, Stacey’s chips, mini Heath bars my boss keeps in her office, and other foods that I know are not good for me. Give yourself a break and do not freak out. Its about the process, not the end result. I sware my body just started craving fruits and veggies once I started eating them. Now that I feel healthy and strong from the changes I have made, I am beginning to start juicing. I will post about this soon!

Here is something interesting i found about gluten
